Today we started our day in France. It was been such a busy day that seems so long ago now. We enjoyed our complimentary breakfast, parked our bags and we were out of there. France was a nice quick visit but we were on to the Black Forest next.

We enjoyed a scenic drive along the 531 and 33.

Rolling hills and blue skies, what more could you ask for?

We stopped in Triberg for a quick visit and some lunch. It was a beautiful little town in the heart of the Black Forest. Among my snacks was a black forest muffin, super delicious! These little towns remind me of Leavenworth which makes me think that Leavenworth did a good job!

After our beautiful drive we started heading in the direction of Switzerland. We knew in order to drive there we would need a motorway pass. These can be purchased near the border. Well, we were driving along, not seeing anything until we come up to what appeared to be the border.

There was no clear signage as to where to park so we wandered in the car until we found a parking lot that was obviously reserved for someone who was not us. I hopped out of the car and thought, if this was the US I’d be arrested by now. I found the office that sells the passes and was greeted by a kind border patrol agent.

I told him I needed a motorway pass and he asked where were going. I told him and he asked if it was for holiday to which I said yes. Then he informed me how much the pass was and I paid for it. No showing my passport, no nothing. It was easy.

Then we were on our way to Zurich!

We found our hotel easy enough, checked in, dropped our bags and were off to the train station to go check out downtown.

We got to ride the double-decker train all the way into downtown Zurich. Even though this city is much smaller, it felt much like Amsterdam with the crowds.

But it was amazing.

We walked all over. Sat in a park for a bit and enjoyed the sunshine and the view. Walked along some trails and simply enjoyed our surroundings.

After a while our feet were tired so we headed back to the train station to get some dinner and head back to the hotel. Another successful day in the books.

Tomorrow we will be in Thun. We are stopping at Mount Pilatus on the way!
