Thun

Not a lot to report today. This morning around 2 a.m. some drunken hooligans were screaming at the top of their lungs. Somehow Jacob managed to sleep through this. I woke up around 6 a.m. and chatted with my family for a bit and then went back to sleep until about 8:30 a.m. We got up and headed to breakfast. I was delighted to see they were serving hot food today that included hash browns, bacon and eggs. I didn’t eat the eggs but Jacob said they were good.

After breakfast I spent some time organizing our things and cleaning the hotel room.

We went for a short walk to one of the few grocery stores that are open today to buy goodies for our trip tomorrow. We are going to the top of Jungfraujoch and instead of paying $50 for a mediocre sausage we are bringing our own snacks. We also grabbed some food for our lunch today.

The weather is a bit drizzly today.

After we dropped off our food at the hotel we took a stroll about Thun taking in the sights of this cute little town.

We have noticed in Switzerland there are many key and shoe repair shops. It is interesting to put these two things together.

We have also noticed that Switzerland is home of the Subarus. During our time in Germany and Austria we saw maybe four Subarus. Since in Switzerland we have seen tons! We even saw a Subaru dealership in a pretty rural area. Just another sign that we’d fit in just fine here.

We have a few big days ahead of us before we end up in Munich for the duration of our trip on Wednesday.

Tomorrow we will pack up and head off to Grindelwald to park the car and take the train up to Jungfraujoch. You can view a webcam here. Jungfraujoch sits at 11,000 feet so this will certainly be an experience! It will also be 30 degrees. Unfortunately, I did not buy the $13 cozy hat with cows on it I saw yesterday so we are going to try and buy something before we head up the mountain. After our big day on the mountain we are off to Zermatt for the night.

Tuesday morning we will wake up to view the Matterhorn then have a long six-hour drive to Innsbruck for the evening. In the morning we will do more mountain exploring before ending up in Munich for the night.

Since everything is closed here on Sundays, even the hotel restaurant we are getting creative with dinner tonight. I tried online ordering pizza from a place nearby, let’s see how this goes!
