After 12+ hours at Disneyland yesterday, we were due a day of sleeping in. We got up around 9 am. Everyone else was already up.
We had a slow morning. Ate some breakfast and didn’t get out the door until almost noon.
We had decided to head over to Griffith Park to see the observatory and the Hollywood sign. There are also lots of trails that we could walk. We wanted to have a relaxed day and not push ourselves too hard.
My family headed back to Disneyland for day 2. Richard and John had a reservation to build droids.
It took us about an hour to get to Griffith Park. We parked at the top so we’d have easy access to the trails there. We did the Mt. Hollywood trail which leads up to a 360 degree panoramic view at the top.

After we took in all the amazing views we headed back down to the observatory. Unfortunately it’s closed Monday to Thursday but we were able to walk around the outside of the building for a little bit.
We decided that a trip to the beach felt like too much for the day and chose to do a scenic drive along the water instead.

We drove through Hollywood and Beverly Hills on our way to Santa Monica. We drove by the Santa Monica pier and continued on to Hermosa Beach before turning away from the water and back to the freeways.
Every freeway in LA was bright red and we knew we’d be in for a long trek back to the house. After just over an hour we arrived back to the AirBnB. We ordered some takeout and put on the hockey game.
We will be packing up and leaving by 10 am tomorrow. That should give us plenty of time to make our 1:40 pm flight. Wish us luck and safe travels!
We both are looking forward to seeing Oscar! Until then!
